KEY INGREDIENTS

  • Golden Oreos: The key ingredient. The Oreo frosting is included in this recipe for extra deliciousness, making this sweet treat one of the most decadent desserts. Alternatively, you can use soft sugar cookies or vanilla wafer cookies instead.
  • Cream cheese: Be sure the cream cheese is room temperature so it blends well. This will bind the mixture together and make them rich and creamy like a truffle.
  • Splash of vanilla extract: Adds a bit of flavor.
  • Coconut oil: Used to melt the white chocolate.
  • White chocolate: This makes the truffles extra decadent. You can also use milk chocolate or dark chocolate if you prefer- the flavor will be slightly different but still delectable. Feel free to use candy melts or vanilla candy coating (almond bark).
  • Sprinkles: Use any colors you want for any holiday or occasion. Use red and green sprinkles for Christmas Sugar Cookie Truffles or rainbow sprinkles for a birthday celebration

HOW TO MAKE SUGAR COOKIE TRUFFLES

Make truffle filling: In a large food processor, process the Oreos until they are a sand-like consistency or fine crumbs. Add in softened cream cheese and vanilla extract and pulse until all ingredients are combined. Alternatively, if you don’t have a food processor you could crush the cookies into crumbs with a wooden spoon, rolling pin, or electric mixer.

Form cookie dough ball and chill: Once the mixture has formed into a cookie dough consistency, you’ve reached the perfect texture. Use a small cookie scoop and form the truffle mixture into small 1-inch balls. Place on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for 20 minutes or until the balls are firm and chilled.

Melt chocolate: Once the truffles are chilled, in a microwave-safe bowl, mix the coconut oil with white chocolate chips and heat in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until chocolate is melted. Alternatively, you could also melt the chocolate in a double boiler if you wanted to.

Coat and add sprinkles: Dip the truffles in the melted chocolate and place back on the cookie sheet. Decorate with sprinkles immediately. Once all of the truffles are done, place them back in the freezer to harden for 10 more minutes.

RECIPE TIPS & VARIATIONS

  • Be sure not to freeze the truffles completely. If you freeze the truffles completely it could cause the chocolate to crack. They will still taste perfectly fine but the chocolate coating won’t be as smooth and perfect looking.
  • When dunking the truffles in the melted chocolate, use a fork and scrape off the excess chocolate on the side of the bowl so you don’t get a ton of leftover chocolate on the bottom of your truffles.
  • Swap the Golden Oreos for regular Oreos to make Oreo Truffles.
  • Make these cookie truffles all year round: Use other sprinkles for any occasion or holiday. Use red and green sprinkles for Christmas, rainbow sprinkles for a celebration, or pink and blue for a baby shower reveal.
