Homemade pizza steps

HOW TO MAKE HEART SHAPED PIZZA CRUST

I like to start by rolling my pizza dough out to form about a 12-14 inch round crust on a floured surface. Shape the dough into a round circle. With a pair of clean scissors, cut a line down the center about 4 inches deep. Form a heart shape with your hands and then transfer to a lightly floured baking sheet.

HOW TO MAKE HEART SHAPED PEPPERONI

The easiest way to make heart shaped pepperoni is by carefully using a pair of clean scissors to cut out a heart shape. You could also use a small pairing knife but I find that the scissors work best. You could also make a heart shape by folding the pepperoni in half and cutting out a heart shape. It may take you a couple tries to get the perfect heart shape that you want, but don’t worry it will be worth it!

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE HEART SHAPED PIZZA

  • Homemade or store-bought pizza crust: any crust will do. I love store-bought pizza crust because it saves me time and it’s convenient.
  • Pesto: adds flavor to the base of the pizza.
  • Pizza sauce: you can use store-bought or homemade pizza sauce.
  • Mozzarella cheese: I always prefer to use fresh mozzarella and grate it instead of pre-shredded mozzarella. There its so much more flavor when you use fresh ingredients!
  • Pepperoni: standard size works best. You don’t have to shape them into hearts but I think it makes this pizza so special 🙂
  • Olive oil: to give the crust a light golden brown color.

I’m one of those people that HAS to have ranch with my pizza! I also love serving pesto on the side as well for more flavor and we are huge pesto fans.

LEFTOVERS

Is there anything better than opening the fridge and realizing you have leftover pizza?! I think not! If you have leftovers, you can store leftovers in an airtight container or a ziplock bag. I love my leftover pizza cold but if you want to heat it I highly recommend heating the pizza in the oven so it doesn’t get soggy. It will taste just as good, if not better!
