Growing up, Lucky Charms was my favorite cereal and still is! I just don’t eat them like I used to and this recipe is a great way to indulge in my favorite old school treat! These Lucky Charms Rice Krispies Treats are so easy to make and require 4 ingredients and take 15 minutes to make!
These treats are loaded with two kinds of marshmallows and is a great recipe to make for St. Patrick’s Day or any day you you’re in the mood for a marshmallow treat. If you want to make another fun St. Patrick’s Day treat, try my Thin Mint Cookie Muddy Buddies.
I love using both Lucky Charms cereal and Rice Krispies cereal because the Rice Krispies cereal gives these bars the texture of an original Rice Krispies treat and the Lucky Charms cereal gives these bars a special touch, especially the magical marshmallows! Both kids and adults will love these Lucky Charms treats.
Other gooey marshmallow treats to try are my Birthday Cake Treats, Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats, and Strawberry Rice Krispie Treats.
You want to be sure to coat the cereal evenly with the melted marshmallows. The marshmallow and cereal ratio is just perfect.
I love adding extra Lucky Charms marshmallows on top- this is totally optional. It’s my favorite part because who doesn’t love Lucky Charms marshmallows?! They also add some color to these treats and make them look extra magical!
All of the colorful marshmallows inside the cereal mixture adds a burst of sweetness and a little crunch. You can pick out your favorite shapes and add as many or as little as you want. Add these Lucky Charms Rice Krispies Treats to your kids lunch box, or make them for birthday parties or St. Patrick’s Day!
Key Ingredients
- Butter
- Marshmallows
- Lucky Charms cereal
- Rice Krispies cereal
How To Make Lucky Charms Treats
- Line a 13 x 9 inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly coat with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large pot or large saucepan over low heat on a stove to, melt butter. Once the butter has melted, stir in the marshmallows and stir constantly until melted. Be sure not to let the marshmallows brown, they will burn quickly.
- Once the marshmallows are melted remove from heat and stir in the cereal until evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press mixture evenly (coat a spatula with nonstick cooking spray on both sides or coat your hands so the mixture doesn’t stick). Add Lucky Charms marshmallows to the tops of the treats (optional). Allow to cool for a few minutes and slice into bars.
These Lucky Charms Treats Are
- Better than your typical marshmallow treat especially since we use extra marshmallows in this recipe. The combination of the two cereals really make these treats extra special.
- , require only 4 simple ingredients and take 15 minutes to make!
- A fun treat for kids to make. They can help stir the melted marshmallows and cereals together or add the Luck Charms marshmallows on top.
- Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, lunch box treats, or an after school snack.
- A magically delicious no bake dessert.
- Better than the store bought cereal bars.
Pro Tips
- When pressing the cereal mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, be sure to coat your hands or both side of a spatula to avoid getting your hands sticky!
- You can cut up these bars as little or as big as you wish. You can make them into square or rectangle shapes depending on how many bars you want.
- Dip the bottoms of these bars in melted white chocolate or almond bark. They will resemble the classic Lucky Charms Bars that you can buy at the store.
- Add green sprinkles or drizzle with melted green candy melts to the top of the prepared treats to make these extra festive for St. Patrick’s Day.
- Be sure to use melt the marshmallows on LOW heat to insure they stay soft and will make the treats fluffy. Only use fresh marshmallows- stale marshmallows won’t make these treats as gooey. Mini marshmallows are easier to melt as apposed to regular marshmallows or large marshmallows.
- If you want your treats to be thicker, use a 9×9 inch square pan instead of a 13×9 inch pan.
Leftovers
Be sure to store any leftover treats in an airtight container, large ziplock bag, or cover dish with plastic wrap and store at room temperature. I like to layer the bars with a sheet of wax paper in between layers so they don’t stick to each other.
They will stay fresh for up to 3 days. I don’t recommend refrigerating these treats because they tend to get rock hard.
