Key Ingredients

Brownies: I love using fudgy brownies for these treats but you can use any type of brownie you prefer. Homemade brownies or from a box. Whatever works for you is perfect for this recipe.

White chocolate: Used to cover the jumbo marshmallow to make the ghost. I melt white chocolate chips until they are smooth. You could also use melting chocolate or almond bark.

Milk chocolate: I melt chocolate chips and dab a few dots on to make the ghost face. You can use any type of chocolate flavor including dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or bittersweet chocolate.

How To Make Ghost Brownies

Bake brownies: Bake according to package or use this recipe to make them from scratch. Most boxed brownie recipes require eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Let the brownies cool and then cut into 16 squares. Lay a large piece of parchment paper or wax paper on a counter to place the brownies.

Melt white chocolate: Melt white chocolate in a microwavable bowl in 30 second increments until melted and smooth.

Assemble: Top each brownie with a large marshmallow, then spoon about 2 tablespoons of the melted white chocolate to the top of the marshmallow to cover it completely.

Add face: Let the white chocolate set and harden for a few minutes. Melt milk chocolate and transfer the chocolate to a ziplock bag and cut a small pieces off the corner. You could also use a piping bag. Pipe a set of eyes and an oval or round shape mouth on each brownie. Let the ghosts harden for a few minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Recipe Tips & Variations

Brownies: You can use your favorite Homemade Brownie Recipe or use boxed brownie mix. You can also use pre-baked brownies from your local grocery store in the bakery section.

Cut perfect shaped brownies: This trick is magical to me because it works so well. Use a plastic knife to cut the brownies once they are baked and cooled.

Ghost variations: Instead of using melted chocolate to make the body of the ghost, you can use frosting instead. Heat frosting in the microwave until melted but you don’t want it too runny.

Ghost face variations: Instead of using melting chocolate for the eyes and mouth, you can use black gel, black icing, or mini chocolate chips.

Leftovers & Storage

To-store: Place leftovers in an airtight container or cover plate with plastic wrap. Place brownies in a cool area for up to 3-5 days.

To-freeze: You can also freeze these treats in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Make sure the chocolate has hardened on the ghosts before freezing.
