Why You’ll Love This Recipe

key ingredients
- English muffins: Used for the mummy base. You can use either white, sourdough or whole wheat. Use gluten-free English muffins for a gluten-free alternative.
- Pizza sauce: You could also use tomato sauce or marinara sauce but the pizza sauce has more flavor. Homemade sauce is always a good idea too.
- String cheese: When they get cut in half, they make the perfect length for the mummy wrapping. You could also use mozzarella cheese from a block and cut it yourself.
- Black olive slices: Used to make the mummy’s eyes.

how to make mummy pizzas
Toast muffins: Slice each English muffin in half and place on prepared baking sheet. Spread a few spoonfuls of pizza sauce on top of each muffin slice and spread until evenly coated. Bake for 5 minutes and then remove from the oven. This will make the muffins crisp.
Add cheese: Cut each string cheese in half and pull apart to form strips, I love making thick and thin strips.
Assemble mini pizzas: Place the string cheese strips across the pizza sauce to make a mummy wrapping, leaving a small gap for the eyes. Add 2 olive slices for the eyes on each mummy.
Bake, serve and enjoy: Bake for 10 more minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is a light golden brown. Cool for a few minutes and then enjoy!

tips & variations
- Different Bases: Swap the English muffins for mini bagels, pita bread or sandwich thins.
- Cheese alternative: Provolone or Monterey Jack instead of mozzarella for a different flavor. Use dairy-free cheese to make this a dairy-free treat.
- Sauce Swap : Instead of pizza sauce, try pesto sauce of a different flavor.
- Eyes: Mini pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, green olives or edible candy eyes can be used instead of black olives.
- Make ahead: Make these mummies ahead of time by assembling pizzas and placing them in the refrigerator. Bake before serving.
- Extra crispy crust: Bake the pizza a little longer than the recipe instructions and bake before adding the pizza sauce.

leftovers & storage
Leftover mummies make a delicious lunch or dinner the next day. You could also add them to your kids’ lunch box for a spooky surprise. Store any leftover Mummy Pizzas in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the refrigerator or in the freezer for 1-2 months.
When ready to eat, reheat in the oven at 375°F for 4-5 minutes or until cheese has remelted. You can also reheat these mummies in the microwave for 30-45 seconds.
