Homemade Bagel Bites
There’s so much to love about these homemade mini bagel bites. When I think of my childhood years, bagel bites were always the snack of choice because they were the best thing. Especially when friends came over after school or for a slumber party…any other 90’s kids agree?
Everyone will love these easy homemade pizza bagel bites whether you enjoy them as an easy lunch, quick snack, party appetizer, or dinner. Made with simple ingredients and requires just a few minutes of prep time.
If you’re not sure what to add to the tops of these bagels, let your family add their own favorite pizza toppings. This way they can customize their own ‘mini pizzas’..kid’s will LOVE this idea plus this is great for any picky eater.
This recipe is perfect for freezing so you can always have Mini Pizza Bagels ready to go when hunger strikes. These will make easy weeknight dinners when all you have to do is pop these in the oven to reheat!
Key Ingredients
You only need 4 ingredients to make these bagels so it’s hard to believe these are even homemade! You can customize your pizza bagels with any of your favorite toppings. These are the ingredients I used:
- Plain mini bagels: I love to use plain bagels for this recipe but you can also use whole wheat, super seed (or everything), onion, any of your favorite flavored bagels will work. You can also use regular sized bagels but please note that this recipe will only yield about 4 regular sized bagels so you will need to use more pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperonis.
- Pizza sauce: store-bought or homemade pizza sauce works.
- Mozzarella cheese: I always recommend shredding your own cheese. You can also use a pizza blend, Monterey Jack, provolone, or white cheddar cheese will also work. You can make these vegan by using your favorite vegan cheese.
- Pepperoni: I used traditional pepperoni but you can also use mini pepperonis or turkey pepperoni. You can also keep these kid-friendly and use only cheese. Make these vegetarian by using your favorite veggie toppings. Make these extra hearty by adding other meat options such as crumbled sausage, diced ham, or bacon..
How To Make Homemade Pizza Bites
PREPARE BAKING SHEET. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice bagels in half and lay each bagel half cut side up.
ADD PIZZA SAUCE. Add a few spoonfuls of your favorite pizza sauce to each bagel top, spreading it evenly.
ADD TOPPINGS. Top with cheese and pepperoni pieces or any of your favorite toppings.
BAKE. Bake for 12 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. The pepperoni edges should start to get crispy on the edges. Once the bagel bites are baked, I like to top mine with a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese and parsley to garnish (this is totally optional). Enjoy!
Recipe Tips & Variations
Don’t over do it with the toppings: Feel free to add your favorite toppings but be sure not to add too much otherwise the bagels won’t cook all the way through and the toppings can get messy.
Skip the microwave: The best way to reheat these bagel bites is in the oven or toast oven. Do not reheat these in the microwave as the bagel bites can become chewy and soggy.
Customized bagel bites: Let your family and kids add their own toppings to the pizza. Since these only take 20 minutes to make, you can have them add their own toppings. Everyone will love this and it’s so easy to do. This is a great way to get kids involved in cooking in the kitchen!
Healthier alternative: Use homemade bagels instead of store-bought or use whole wheat bagels. You can also use turkey pepperoni instead of regular pepperoni to reduce the fat. Alternatively you can top the bagels with fresh veggies, pesto, or white meat such as chicken or turkey.
Jumbo bagel bites: Instead of using mini bagels, use regular sized bagels instead. You may need to bake the bagels for a minute or two longer and you will need more ingredients.
Other Topping Ideas

- Pickled jalapeños
- Mushrooms
- Diced tomatoes

Leftovers & Storage
To-Store: Place any leftovers in an airtight container or cover a dish tightly with plastic wrap and store for up to 4 days. To reheat, place the bagels in the oven or toaster oven until warmed.
To-Freeze baked bagels: Store in an airtight container or heavy duty ziploc bag. You do not need to thaw before baking, just be sure to bake for an extra minute or two. Freeze for up to 4-5 months.
To-Freeze unbaked bagels: Place assembled bagels on a baking sheet and flash freeze them just until they are frozen, about 30 minutes. Transfer them to an airtight container or heavy duty ziploc bag. Freeze for 4-5 months.
