Fluffy Dinner Rolls

These are trulythe fluffiest Dinner Rolls and everyone needs to try this recipe! Every time I bake these rolls, I can’t believe how fluffy, soft and perfect they are. They can be served with any meal and theses will disappear quickly from your dinner table!

I love how these dinner rolls are made with minimal ingredients and require very little preparation before they get to your dinner table. These rolls are like soft little pillows with a buttery flavor that are so fluffy each bite will nearly melt in your mouth.

the Best Dinner Rolls

I love serving Fluffy Dinner Rolls with a side of butter, honey, jelly, marmalade or you can serve them just as they are! Sometimes I love the combination of adding both butter and honey to the middle of these rolls for a sweeter flavor.

It’s so magical to see the dough and dough balls rise. This is such an important step that you cannot skip no matter how tempting it is to bake them just as they are. These rolls are totally worth the wait!

I’m currently pregnant and craving ALL the carbs. If you love carbs just as much as I do, you may need to make a double batch of these bread rolls…you won’t be able to have just one.

Just look how fluffy and gorgeous these rolls are! These Fluffy Bread Rolls make the best side dish for the Holidays along with my Cheesy Potato Grain, Zucchini, Squash and Corn Bake, these Herb Roasted Sweet Potatoes and this Cheesy Loaded Cauliflower Bake!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE FLUFFY DINNER ROLLS

  • All-purpose flour
  • Instant yeast
  • Granulated sugar
  • Salt
  • Warm milk
  • Butter
  • Egg

HOW TO MAKE FLUFFY DINNER ROLLS

  1. In a stand mixer, combine 3 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk, butter and egg.
  2. Using a dough hook or paddle attachment, mix the ingredients until combined.
  3. Continue to add 1/4 cup of flour at a time mixing on medium speed, until the dough doesn’t stick to the sides of the bowl and clings to the dough hook. Mix for 3-5 minutes. When the dough is ready, it will feel smooth and it will come off your fingers if you pinch it.
  4. Let the dough rise in a cool-warm environment for 30-40 minutes, until it has doubled in size. (I place my dough to rise on the kitchen counter)
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch the dough ball down to release the air. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and divide the dough to form 24 rolls by shaping each roll into a smooth round ball. Place the rolls onto the greased baking pan, cover and let rise again for 30 minutes in a cool-warm environment.
  6. Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees F, or until the tops of the rolls turn golden brown. Remove rolls from the oven and brush melted butter onto the tops of each roll before serving. Enjoy!

LEFTOVERS

Store on the counter: You can store cooled rolls in a large ziplock bag or an airtight container for up to 3 days. To warm, place in the microwave for a few seconds or place in a 300 degree F oven for a few minutes.

Freezer-friendly: You can freeze baked dinner rolls by placing them in a ziplock bag once they have baked and cooled completely. Try to remove as much air as you can from the ziplock bag. You can freeze these rolls for up to 3 months. When ready to enjoy, thaw the rolls in the refrigerator or at room temperature on your counter. Reheat in a 300 degree F oven until warmed, about 10 minutes.

Author: Kathryn Donangelo

Ingredients

  • 4-5 cups all-purpose flour; divided
  • 2 Tbsp. instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm whole or low-fat milk between 105-115 degrees F
  • 6 Tbsp. unsalted butter; softened at room temperature
  • 1 whole egg

To top the rolls

  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter; melted

Instructions

  • In a stand mixer, combine 3 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk, butter and egg.
  • Using a dough hook or paddle attachment, mix the ingredients until combined on low speed, scraping down the sides often.
  • Continue to add 1/4 cup of flour at a time mixing on medium speed, until the dough doesn't stick to the sides of the bowl and clings to the dough hook. Mix for 3-5 minutes. When the dough is ready, it will feel smooth and it will come off your fingers if you pinch it.
  • Lightly grease a large bowl or you can use the same mixing bowl with nonstick cooking spray or oil. Form the dough into a ball shape making sure to coat it evenly in the oil. Cover the bowl with a warm damp towl and let the dough rise in a cool-warm environment for 30-40 minutes, until it has doubled in size. (I place my dough to rise on the kitchen counter)
  • Once the dough has risen, punch the dough ball down to release the air. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and divide the dough to form 24 rolls by shaping each roll into a smooth round ball. Place the rolls onto the greased baking pan, cover and let rise again for 30 minutes in a cool-warm environment. They will be a bit puffy. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F towards the end of the rising time.
  • Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops of the rolls turn golden brown. Remove rolls from the oven and brush melted butter onto the tops of each roll before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. If you do not own a stand mixer, don't worry! You can mix this dough by hand with a large wooden spoon and a large bowl. It will take some muscle!
  2. The best way to divide the dough ball into 24 small dinner rolls is by dividing the dough in half, then divide each half in half, to form 4 dough balls. Then divide each 4 dough balls in half again to form 8 dough balls. Divide each of those 8 pieces into 3, making a total of 24 rolls.
  3. If you are baking in a colder environment, place a clean damp kitchen towel in the microwave for 15-30 seconds until warmed. Cover over the bread dough in step #4 and #5 to let the dough rise.
  4. TO MAKE AHEAD: You can freeze baked dinner rolls by placing them in a ziplock bag once they have baked and cooled completely. Try to remove as much air as you can from the ziplock bag. You can freeze these rolls for up to 3 months. When ready to enjoy, thaw the rolls in the refrigerator or at room temperature on your counter. Reheat in a 300 degree F oven until warmed, about 10 minutes.

I’ve always been nervous about making my own dinner rolls at home. I’m not much of a bread baker, but you’ve made it look super simple and easy!
