Classic Three Bean Salad Recipe

This healthy Classic Three Bean Salad is one of our favorite salads to make for just about any meal! Garbanzo Beans, Kidney Beans and Green Beans are tossed together in a light and zesty dressing. Serve this at your next BBQ, summer picnic, potluck or as an appetizer or side dish! 

Be sure to try my Spicy Cowboy Dip that’s similar and also makes an easy side dish salad. 

I love how simple and easy this Classic Three Bean Salad is because this recipe is made with ingredients you already have in your pantry and refrigerator. This salad takes 10 minutes to make and can be prepped the day or night before. Its always best to let the ingredients sit in the fridge for an hour but you don’t have to!

Classic Three Bean Salad Recipe steps

THIS CLASSIC THREE BEAN SALAD RECIPE IS

  • Both hearty and healthy! Loaded with plenty of protein and tossed in a light vinaigrette dressing. 
  • Super easy to make (takes 10 minuets to whip up).
  • Pairs well with just about any meal
  • Refreshing, delicious and everyone will love it!
  • Perfect to serve as a side dish, appetizer or you can bring it to a picnic or potluck. 

Classic Three Bean Salad

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE CLASSIC GREEN BEAN SALAD RECIPE

  • Garbanzo beans
  • Kidney beans
  • Green beans
  • Red onions
  • Parsley
  • Olive oil
  • Red wine vinegar
  • Garlic powder + onion powder
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt + pepper

HOW TO MAKE CLASSIC GREEN BEAN SALAD RECIPE

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the beans, onions and parsley until combined.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together all of the dressing ingredients.
  3. Add the dressing to the beans and toss to coat. Place the salad in the refrigerator until ready to serve. It’s best to let the bean salad sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the flavors of the dressing to soak up the beans.

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS TO ADD 

There are so many ingredients that you could add to this Classic Three Bean Salad recipe if you wanted to add more flavor and texture! Some favorite additions are:

  • Sliced cherry tomatoes
  • Canned corn; rinsed and drained
  • Sliced celery
  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Red chili flakes
  • Diced bell peppers; any color
  • Cubed avocado

LEFTOVERS

This Classic Three Bean Salad makes the best leftovers because the longer the ingredients are together, the more flavor this salad has! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz. can garbanzo beans; rinsed and drained
  • 1 15 oz. can kidney beans; rinsed and drained
  • 1 15 oz. can green beans; rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup red onions; finely chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. parsley; finely chopped

Dressing

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper

Instructions
