Ingredients

  • Cinnamon Rolls: We use the jumbo Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls that have 5 in a can but you can use the regular sized cinnamon roll with 8 in each can.
  • Candy Corn Beak: Used to make the turkey’s nose.
  • Edible Eyes: You can find these at most grocery stores in the baking isle near the frosting and sprinkles.
  • Bacon Feathers: Prepare the bacon any way that you like or use pre-cooked bacon. It’s best when the bacon is crisp so they can create firm turkey feathers.

How To Make Cinnamon Roll Turkeys

Bake Cinnamon Rolls: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove the cinnamon rolls from the can and set the frosting to the side. Place each cinnamon roll about 2-3 inches apart on a cookie sheet or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Unroll 1 inch of each cinnamon roll and tuck dough into the roll to create the neck of turkey. This is optional. Bake cinnamon rolls according to package instructions listed on the can, usually 15-20 minutes or until a light golden brown. Once baked, let the cinnamon rolls cool.

Cook Bacon: While the cinnamon rolls bake, cook your bacon strips until crisp (you can also do this before you bake the cinnamon rolls).

Cut Bacon in Half: Place the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate and pat bacon with a paper towel to remove an excess grease. Cut bacon slices in half.

Assemble Turkeys: Tuck 4 pieces of bacon halves of bacon into the back of each cinnamon roll until they stick up and look like feathers. Spread or drizzle tops of rolls with frosting and then decorate with two candy eyes and a nose. Enjoy!

Recipe Variations

Little Turkeys: Instead of making 5 giant cinnamon rolls, you can use a smaller can of cinnamon rolls that have 8 rolls.

Candy Corn Nose: Instead of candy corn you can use M&Ms, almonds chocolate covered raisins, or a red twizzler or licorice cut into a small rectangle.

Edible candy eyeballs: If you can’t find edible eyes at the grocery store, you can use chocolate chips, brown M&Ms, or black or brown icing.

Chocolate Frosting: We used the canned frosting that comes with the cinnamon rolls but if you want to add a chocolatey twist, use canned chocolate frosting instead.

Turkey’s Feet: Make turkey feet by placing mini pretzel sticks on the bottom of each turkey.

Turkey’s Waddle or Snood: Place a red sprinkle or red jimmies by the candy corn to make a snood.

Leftovers & Storage

You may not have a lot of cinnamon rolls leftover since only 5-8 cinnamon rolls come in a can but if you do, place leftovers in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Normally, you could store cinnamon rolls on the counter in a cool area, but since there’s bacon, it’s best to store in a refrigerator.

To reheat, remove the eyes and nose and microwave for 15-30 seconds or until warmed. You could also reheat the cinnamon rolls in the oven nat 350 degrees F until frosting has warmed and the centers are soft and gooey again.

  1. 5 stars
These are so adorable and will absolutely make the kids smile when placed in front of them. What’s not to like with cinnamon buns and bacon! I think I’ll put a little name tag on mine for each person at the table.

  2. These little turkeys are so adorable! I know my kids would have been all over these, especially if there were no raisins in the buns. Now that I’m an auntie, I can still make it for when my niece comes over to stay.
