I love snacking on dips and this Homemade Pico de Gallo can be enjoyed anytime as a snack or appetizer! Bring this to your next BBQ, potluck, holiday party, dinner gathering, or any event! This recipe pairs perfectly with my homemade Guacamole recipe and is great to top on burritos, tacos, nachos, salads, and enchiladas!  We have tacos just about once a week so this recipe is on repeat in our house!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED

  • Roma tomatoes: these are my favorite tomatoes to use for salsas but any will work. The freshness of your tomatoes is paramount since it is the main ingredient so try avoid watery tomatoes.
  • White onion: this is a recipe staple. I always love how white onions taste in salsas but you can use yellow or red onions if you prefer.
  • Jalapeño: remove the seeds and use as much as you want. If you love heat, add more than one jalapeño.
  • Cilantro: you can never have too much cilantro!
  • Fresh lime juice: adds so much flavor. I like to use a whole lime and think it’s the perfect amount.
  • Salt + pepper: this really amplifies all of the flavors and is vital. Don’t skip out on adding these.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PICO DE GALLO

  1. In a medium bowl add tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, cilantro and mix together.
  2. Add in the fresh lime juice and season with salt and pepper- mix well. Season to taste. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerate overnight. Enjoy!

Chips and salsa is one of my favorite snacks to munch on and with only 6 ingredients I love making this at home. I used to buy the pre-made Pico de Gallo from the grocery store but the flavors always seem to fade and it doesn’t compare to making it from scratch. Plus it’s dirt cheap to make and will store nicely in the fridge. The longer the Pico de Gallo sits in the fridge, the more flavorful it becomes.

This Homemade Pico de Gallo is addictive and tastes just as authentic as you would get at a Mexican restaurant!
