We don’t have a Crumbl Cookies shop in my hometown and the closest Crumbl shop is over an hour away, so I had to make my own version! This Copycat Crumbl Cookie Recipe tastes exactly like the original Frosted Sugar Cookie you can find at Crumbl only better because it’s made from scratch.
I love copycat recipes because it’s fun to recreate them in your own kitchen and they always taste better. Some other favorite copycat recipes are P.F Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Starbucks Chai Tea Latte, Starbucks Apple Cider, and Olive Garden’s Gnocchi Soup.
You can bake these thick sugar cookies from start to finish in less than 30 minutes so these are a perfect last-minute treat. You also don’t have to do any rolling or cutting to save you even more time, woohoo!
I LOVE sugar cookies in all forms and some of my other favorite recipes are my Sugar Cookie Bars, Sugar Cookie Truffles, Cut-Out Sugar Cookies, and Sugar Drop Cookies.
INGREDIENTS
Flour: all-purpose works best for this cookie recipe. Whole wheat flour would also work and may change the flavor and texture of the cookies.
Sugar: granulated sugar is the key ingredient.
Baking powder: adds fluffiness and helps the cookies rise and spread just a bit.
Butter: I usually use unsalted butter when I bake, but I use salted butter for this recipe because it adds just the right amount of salt and I don’t have to add any extra. The salt balances out the sweetness just a bit. If you don’t have salted butter, you can use unsalted, just be sure to add 1/8- 1/4 teaspoon to the dough. It’s important that your butter is softened.
Vanilla and almond extract: both add so much flavor. The almond extract brings out the sugar cookie flavor the most.
HOW TO MAKE COPYCAT CRUMBL COOKIES
RECIPE TIPS AND VARIATIONS
- These cookies are normally served chilled but they are also delicious at room temperature.
- The original Frosted Cookie recipe from Crumbl is pink, but you can make the frosting any color you want or leave them white.
- Add sprinkles! Sprinkles always make any dessert exciting, especially if you’re making these for a party or birthday celebration.
- Make these cookies smaller. I normally don’t eat a whole cookie so instead of making each cookie dough with 1/4 cup of dough, use 2 or 3 tablespoons. You will have to adjust the baking time as needed.
- If you can’t find almond extract or prefer vanilla extract, you can use vanilla extract for the frosting.
WHAT ARE CRUMBL COOKIES?
Crumbl cookies are made from a fast-growing franchise cookie company in the United States. They offer a wide variety of cookies and have new flavors weekly. You can get Crumbl cookies delivered almost anywhere if you don’t have one close by (or you can make this recipe 😉 ). Crumbl is known for their cookies to be larger, cake-like, and thicker than your typical cookie.
THESE SUGAR COOKIES ARE
- Better than the original Sugar Cookies from Crumbl and a fraction of the price.
- Thick, chewy, buttery, soft, and has a cake-like consistency that will melt in your mouth.
- Perfect for anyone who doesn’t live near a Crumbl store (like me). Your cookie cravings are now complete.
- Made with simple and easy ingredients you probably already have at home.
LEFTOVERS & STORAGE
The original Crumbl Sugar Cookie recipe is chilled in the refrigerator, but you can store these at room temperature in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap for up to 5 days.
Frozen unfrosted cookies will last in the freezer for up to 3 months. Store by wrapping each cookie individually with plastic wrap, then place them in a large heavy-duty ziplock bag.
You can also freeze the unbaked cookie dough or you can shape the cookies and place them on a baking sheet and flash freeze for 30 minutes, or until hard. Place them in an airtight container to freeze. Thaw completely or bake frozen and add an extra few minutes to the baking time.

- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

- 2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions
How to make Crumbl Sugar Cookies
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicon mats.
- In a large bowl with an electric hand mixer, cream together the softened butter, sugar until light and fluffy. Scrape the side and add the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Beat again until combined and smooth.
- Add in the flour and baking powder and beat again, scraping down the sides of the bowl often. Beat until thoroughly combined and cookie dough has formed.
- Scoop 1/4 cup of cookie dough and roll into a ball. Repeat with the remaining dough. Arrange cookie dough balls on prepared cookie sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie, about 6 cookies per sheet. With a drinking glass or measuring cup, gently press down on each cookie, be careful not to make them too flat.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the centers of the cookies have puffed up and are no longer glossy. The cookies won't really turn golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool in the cookie sheet, for at least 10 minutes. In the meantime, make the frosting.
How to make the frosting
- In a medium bowl with an electric hand mixer, cream together the softened butter until smooth. Slowly add in the powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk and beat together until smooth and creamy. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add in 4 drops of neon pink food coloring gel (if desired) and beat until combined.
- Spread the frosting on the slightly warm cookies. The frosting will melt just a bite and will give the cookies a smooth finishing look. Place the frosted cookies on a cooling rack to completely cool.
- Once the cookies are completely cooled and the frosting is set, chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

First time making these. Definitely a 5 star recipe. Entire family loved them even without the frosting. I do have a question. Have you ever rolled them out for cut outs for royal icing design cookies. Thank you.
I have just made these cookies, the dough was very sticky and they haven’t come out with a smooth finish they are all cracked looking? Can I check what size of eggs you used? I’m in the uk and I used large free range eggs. Thanks
