Why You’ll Love sourdough bread Pizza
key ingredients
- Loaf of sourdough bread: The fresh sourdough baguette or loaf makes this pizza extra easy! You don’t have to worry about making or rolling out pizza dough.
- Pizza Sauce: Use your favorite store-bought marinara or pizza sauce or simply make your own tomato sauce from scratch.
- Parmesan Cheese: I like to grate or shred my own parmesan because it has better flavors than store-bought pre-grated parmesan.
- Mozzarella Cheese: Shredded mozzarella cheese is the perfect cheese for pizza.
- Pepperoni: Use your favorite brand. Mini pepperonis are fun to use too for the kiddos.
how to make Sourdough Pizza Bread
Prepare bread and add sauce: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Slice sourdough loaf in half lengthwise. Spread pizza sauce in an even layer over the top.
Add cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese on top.
Add pepperoni and bake: Add pepperoni slices or other favorite toppings. Place on a baking sheet or pan and bake for 10-12 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbles, then broil for 2 minutes until the cheese is a light golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes, then cut into slices and enjoy!
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MARINARA SAUCE AND PIZZA SAUCE?
The consistency is the biggest difference! Marinara is much lighter than pizza sauce and is spreads easier on top of the pizza. Pizza sauce is thicker.
CAN I USE PASTA SAUCE FOR PIZZA?
You can! You may need to simmer the pasta sauce in a saucepan until it thickens to be a little more similar to pizza sauce. Feel free to add your favorite types of herbs and seasoning to the sauce.
