INGREDIENTS
Sugar Cookies: You can use your favorite store-bought sugar cookies or simply make your own from scratch. If you’re looking to keep things quick and easy, then simply use store-bought cookies!
White Candy Melts: Also known as white chocolate, white candy melts are drizzled over the fluffy marshmallows to give these cookies their Melted Snowman look.
Marshmallows: Large marshmallows are cut in half and used for the snowman’s body. Marshmallows add the perfect textures to these chewy cookies!
Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups: Make sure to use miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and cut them in half so the hats will be the right sizes for the snowmen cookies. If Reese’s Cups are too large, then the hats might fall off!
Mini Chocolate Chips: You will need mini chocolate chips for the eyes of these snowmen. If you do not have mini chocolate chips, then you can draw your eyes on them with a food coloring marker.
Orange Jimmies: Jimmies are tiny chocolate sprinkles that can come in different types of colors. I use orange Jimmies for the noses of the snowmen because they are the perfect sizes and are subtle in flavor. If you cannot find orange Jimmies, then you can use orange gel.
Pretzel Sticks: Salty pretzel sticks are used as the arms for these melted snowman cookies! The pretzels add just the right amount of crunch and saltiness to this recipe.
Sparkling Sugar: Sparkling sprinkles or sugar is the perfect addition to these cookies because it makes them glisten and sparkly!
HOW TO MAKE MELTED SNOWMAN COOKIES
STEP ONE: First, prepare your favorite sugar cookie recipe or gather store-bought sugar cookies. Lay the cookies out on parchment paper or baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Gather all of the decorations.
STEP TWO: In a glass bowl, melt the white candy bits until fully melted. You may have to check on them every 20 seconds or so.
ASSEMBLE
STEP THREE: Place half of a large marshmallow on top of the cookie where the head would go (a little above the center). Be sure to leave plenty of room for the Reese’s hat!
STEP FOUR: With a small spoon, spoon the melted candy mixture over the top of the marshmallows to cover it completely. Spoon more melted candy over the marshmallow and cookie as needed and spread it towards the edges of the cookies.
STEP FIVE: Immediately, press the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup to the top of the marshmallow to form a tiny hat. Next, add two mini chocolate chips to the cookies to form the eyes.
STEP SIX: Add an orange Jimmy to form the nose or draw it on with food gel. Next, add the two pretzel sticks to the sides of the melted candy mixture to form arms and position them in an upward manner.
STEP SEVEN: Finally, sprinkle the sparkling sugar on top of the cookie.
STEP EIGHT: Allow the cookies to harden for about 20 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
SNOWMAN SUGAR COOKIE VARIATIONS

- Give the snowmen buttonB by placing colored M&Ms in a line below the marshmallows.
- Use peanut butter cookies for additional nutty flavors.
- Make these cookies vegan by using vegan marshmallows and sugar cookies.
- Crush pieces of candy canes or peppermints to the tops of the snowmen while the icing is still soft for minty flavors.
- Add your favorite food coloring to draw additional things onto the snowmen.
TIPS FOR MELTING SNOWMAN COOKIES
- Be sure to allow the cookies to fully harden before enjoying so that the snowmen will stay in place.
- Use parchment paper to decorate the cookies or there will be a huge mess!
- Use white chocolate peanut butter cups rather than milk chocolate.
- Mini chocolate chips are best for the eyes are they are small enough to place on the marshmallow.
STORING LEFTOVERS
Store the leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for four to five days. You can also refrigerate them.
Freeze the sugar cookies in advance and pull them out with the other ingredients whenever you are ready to decorate. Allow the sugar cookies to thaw before decorating.
