Big Mac Sliders
Mini Big Mac Sliders taste just like the popular McDonalds Big Mac except you actually know what ingredients go into these and they taste so much better. We even make our own special secret sauce that has all the same flavors as the real thing.
Instead of using traditional sized hamburger buns, we use party sized Hawaiian rolls that are topped with melted butter and sesame seeds that make these sliders extra soft and fluffy. We also use seasoned ground beef instead of beef patties to add even more flavor.
Serve these sliders with crispy french fries, tater tots, potato chips, or sweet potato fries to make this meal complete. We fill the rolls with seasoned ground beef, a special sauce, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and onions so you’re getting all the classic Big Mac flavors in each bite.
Make this mini Big Macs for your next party, game day, potlucks, lunches, dinners, or any time you’re needing to throw together a quick appetizer or snack. Both kids and adults will love these mini sliders especially since they have the same big mac taste.
Key Ingredients
- Hawaiian rolls: They are the perfect size and make the for extra soft buns. You could use any dinner rolls, or sesame seed buns that come in a pack similar to Hawaiian rolls.
- Lean ground beef: I use a 80/20 beef and fat ratio blend but you could go even leaner if you prefer.
- Cheese: Classic American cheese slices is what’s in a classic Big Mac but you can also use Kraft Singles cheese or sliced cheddar cheese.
- Pickles: Sliced dill pickles are best.
- Onion: Yellow or white onion will work.
- Shredded lettuce: Chopped or shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce works best.
- Special Big Mac sauce: Mayonnaise, yellow mustard, sweet relish or pickle relish, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and ketchup.
How To Make Big Mac Sliders
Cook and season beef: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large skillet or pan on medium heat, add ground beef, half of the diced onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook until beef is no longer pink and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease in a strainer if necessary.
Slice rolls in half: Carefully cut rolls in half lengthwise with a serrated or sharp knife and place the bottom slider buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Make copycat Big Mac Sauce: In a small bowl, add all of the Big Mac sauce ingredients together and mix. Spread half of the sauce on the bottom layer of the rolls.
Assemble Big Mac Sliders: Top with cooked ground beef mixture, sliced cheese, lettuce, and pickles. Drizzle the remaining sauce on top and place the top half of the buns on the sliders.
Top with melted butter and seeds: Brush melted butter on top of the sliders and then top with sesame seeds (optional).
Bake and slice: Bake sliders for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Let sliders cool for a few minutes and then cut into 12 sliders. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips & Variations
- Meat alternatives: If you wanted to use a leaner meat, ground turkey or ground chicken works well. Use your favorite ground meatless alternative to make these meatless sliders.
- Use a sharp knife: Make sure to use a sharp knife when cutting the sliders so they cut through.
- Types of cheese: Cheese slices work best since these are sliders but you could also use shredded. American and cheddar cheese provides the best flavor but you could also use Colby, Monterey Jack, White Cheddar, Pepper Jack, Swiss, or Kraft Singles.
- Double the cheese: Add a layer of cheese to the bottom and top layer of the sliders if you want these to be extra cheesy.
- Serve warm: It’s best when these sliders are served right out of the oven while the cheese is melted and the beef is warmed.
