Why You’ll Love This Recipe
key ingredients
- Frosting: We make an easy and quick buttercream frosting from scratch but you can also use a store-bought vanilla, cream cheese, or buttercream frosting from a can.
- Green mini M&Ms: To make the pumpkin stem. You could also use a green frosting or green skittles instead.
- Brown mini M&Ms: To make the pumpkins face. You could also use Reese’s Pieces, chocolate chips, or food gel coloring instead.

recipe tips & variations
- Frosting: You can make your own from scratch or use store-bought frosting from a can.
- Black icing: You can also use black decorating icing to create the face shapes or outline the pumpkin instead of the M&Ms.
- Easy cleanup: Line the bottom of the board with parchment paper or wax paper for an easy cleanup.
- Use your favorites: Add any of your favorite treats and dippers. I love using a variety of cookies and dippers but you can do whatever you want. Other dipper ideas are Nilla Wafer cookies, apple slices, pretzel rods, Ritz crackers, Teddy Grahams, pound cake pieces, chocolate sandwich cookies, white chocolate, Oreo cookies, peanut butter cups, shortbread cookies, brownie bites, Sugar Cookies, and Gingerbread cookies.
- Spooky Halloween Charcuterie Board: Turn this into a spooky Halloween theme and add gummy worms, skeleton hands, plastic spiders, spooky snacks, and edible eyes.
leftovers & storage
The best way to enjoy this Frosting Board is when it’s assembled.
To store leftovers, place all the dippers and candies in separate ziplock baggies or airtight container and store at room temperature. Scrape the frosting from the board and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The frosting will last up to 1 week.
