Medium mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
8 x 8 baking dish
- 1/2 cup salted butter melted and cooled
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large whole eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8 inch square baking dish or line with parchment paper and set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl combine melted butter, cocoa powder and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved with a wooden spoon.
Add eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla and stir until combined.
Stir in the flour until all of the ingredients are incorporated. Be sure NOT to over-mix, the batter will be slightly lumpy. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Spread the brownie batter on your baking dish and bake for approximately 20-22 minutes or until the center is slightly set. Top with more chocolate chips (optional). Once the center is set let the brownies cool for 10 minutes before cutting. Cut into 9 large squares or 16 small squares.
- Metal pans bake much more quickly than glass baking pans. Each oven bakes a little differently, so start checking the brownies 5 minutes before the suggested bake time so you don't over bake the brownies.
- Place parchment paper on the bottom of your baking dish for extra easy cleanup and the brownies will lift right up.
- Use a sharp or plastic knife to cut the brownies for a clean cut.
