Ingredients

  • cup honey, melted
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic; minced
  • 1 Tablespoon sriracha optional, add more or less depending on how spicy you want your shrimp
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger; optional minced
  • 2 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound shrimp; uncooked (peeled and deveined)

Instructions

  • Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, sriracha and fresh ginger in a medium bowl.
  • Add the shrimp and delicately mix until coated. Cover the shrimp with plastic wrap and let sit in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes. You can let this sit for up to 8-12 hours, or overnight. The longer the shrimp marinates, the more flavor they will have.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Place the shrimp in the skillet with the rest of the marinade sauce. Cook until the shrimp is pink on one side, about 1-2 minutes. Flip the shrimp and cook the other side for about 1 minute longer until opaque and completely cooked through.
  • Remove the shrimp from the pan and let the sauce simmer for a few minutes. It will reduce and thicken. Place the shrimp back in the pan and toss to coat the sauce.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions (optional) and enjoy! You can serve this shrimp as an appetizer or it can be made into a meal by serving it with rice and steamed veggies.

Notes

Tips
  • Be sure to devein the shrimp before ingesting.
  • To make the soy sauce thicken a little more as it cooks, add cornstarch to it.
  • To save time, use pre-minced garlic from the jar!
  • If you are using pre-cooked shrimp, you will not need to cook it long at all. You are essentially just reheating the shrimp.
  • If you don't want your shrimp to be spicy, omit the sriracha sauce.
Storage Notes
Store the leftover shrimp in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Make the marinade ahead of time by whisking the ingredients together in storing it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
