  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour be sure to heat treat the flour (see notes)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 12 ounces melting chocolate you can use milk chocolate, white chocolate or a combination of both

Instructions

  • In a large bowl with an electric mixer, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla extract, milk, salt, and flour. Continue to mix together until combined and be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl. Fold in the chocolate chips and mix until thoroughly mixed together.
  • Using a mini ice cream scoop (equivalent to 2-3 tablespoons), scoop dough and form truffles into nicely shaped balls. Place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 20 minutes to harden.
  • Melt chocolate in 30-second increments until melted and smooth. Place truffles into melted chocolate and coat all sides with a spoon. Allow the excess to drip off the side of the bowl. Place coated truffles back on baking sheet and top with more chocolate chips, sprinkles, or drizzle with white chocolate (optional).
  • Place and store the truffles in the refrigerator to harden for at least an hour. Enjoy!

Notes

Recipe Notes:
  1. Heat Flour: Heating the flour will kill any bacteria present if theres any. To make raw flour safe to eat, place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for about 5-10 minutes. Just be sure it doesn't burn.  You can also microwave the flour which would be the quickest and easiest way. Place the flour in a bowl and heat on high for 20-45 seconds. Each microwave is different, so please be mindful of the temperature.
  2. To-store: store these Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles in an airtight container or large ziplock bag in the refrigerator for a week. You can leave them out at room temperature before eating or enjoy them cold.
  3. To-freeze: these truffles are perfect for making-ahead and freezing! I like to have a stash of these laying around my freezer because I'll instantly have dessert handy whenever I have a sweet tooth. Store in a ziplock bag or airtight container for up to 6 months. Defrost at room temperature for at least 15 minutes. They will defrost quickly so they don't need much time.
  4. Instead of using milk chocolate, swap for white chocolate. You can also add food gel coloring to white chocolate if you want to make these balls different colors.
  5. Other topping ideas to add are sprinkles (use them for different holidays or occasions), colored sugar, crushed Oreos, chopped nuts, toffee bits, crushed pretzels, or mini M&Ms. The possibilities are endless, use your favorites!
