Ingredients

  • 1 batch brownies homemade or box-mix
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk whole or reduced-fat
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour heat treated (read recipe notes)
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Bake brownies accordingly to box in an 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking pan. Let cool completely.
  • In a large mixing bowl with a stand mixer or electric hand mixer beat butter, sugars, vanilla extract, and milk together until light and fluffy. You want to be sure the sugars are well combined to prevent the cookie dough from being grainy. Beat for at least 2 minutes or until light and fluffy.
  • Reduce the speed and add the flour. Continue to mix and scrape down the sides of the bow. Mix until ingredients are incorporated and dough has formed. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Spread the cookie dough on top of the cooled brownies. Press down gently with your hands or use a spatula. Let the brownies set and chill in the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes. Cut into bars and enjoy!

Notes

Recipe Notes:
  • Heat-Treat Flour: Heating the flour will kill any bacteria present if theres any. To make raw flour safe to eat, place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for about 5-10 minutes. Just be sure it doesn't burn.  You can also microwave the flour which would be the quickest and easiest way. Place the flour in a bowl and heat on high for 20-45 seconds. Each microwave is different, so please be mindful of the temperature.
  • To-store leftovers: You can store these brownies for 2-3 days at room temperature in an airtight container or cover plate with plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • To-Freeze: Seal cut brownies in plastic wrap and then place them in an airtight container or heavy duty ziplock bag. Freeze for 3 months. Thaw completely at room temperature before eating them.
