Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Servings: 8 dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits pack of 8 biscuits
  • 1 cup pre-made apple pie filling
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar; divided
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter; divided
  • 1 Tbsp. coarse or granulated sugar
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and spray a muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Unwrap refrigerated biscuit dough and cut each biscuit in half lengthwise. You will have a total of 16 biscuit dough halves. Press each half down with your palm to form disks.
  • Place 8 of the biscuit dough halves in the muffin tin, pressing down on each half so the dough covers the bottom of the tin. Place in the oven and bake for 3 minutes.
  • In the meantime, chop up the apple pie filling into small pieces.
  • Place a small pad of butter (about 1/4 teaspoon), a pinch of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of brown sugar into the bottom of each biscuit. Fill each biscuit with about 1 tablespoon of apple pie filling and then add more butter, cinnamon and brown sugar to the top of the filling.
  • Cover the dumplings with the remaining biscuit halves and pinch the edges together as best as you could. Using a sharp knife, prick a small hole at the top of each biscuit and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  • Place the dumplings in the oven and back for 12-14 minutes until the dumplings are a light golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes after baking and enjpy!
