Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients

Oatmeal

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk or almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 dashes ground nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. honey

Apple Cinnamon Mixture

  • 2 Tbsp. butter or coconut oil
  • 1 large apple; about 1 1/2 cups
  • 1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

Instructions

  • In a small sauce pan on medium heat, add the butter or coconut oil. Once melted, add the apples, pure maple syrup, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and sauté for a few minutes until softened.
  • Remove the apples from the saucepan and place them into a bowl.
  • In the same saucepan on medium heat, add the oats, milk, water and stir to combine. Bring the oats to a boil and reduce the heat. Add in the cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and cinnamon. Stir until combined and let the oats simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Once the oats are cooked, add them to a bowl and top with the apples and any other toppings you prefer. Enjoy!
